ASTRO MOC
Map of the astrophysics / astronomy notes in this vault.
Main clusters
- Cosmology MOC — distances, expansion history, age of the universe.
- NF2 solar extrapolation MOC — solar magnetic-field extrapolation, SHARP/HMI data, NF2/PINNs.
- Literature Review index — writing/review workflow for the solar/NF2 dissertation material.
Standalone notes
- Salpeter Initial Mass Function — stellar population mass weighting.
- Syllabus — computational-physics / numerical-methods course outline.
Big picture
Astrophysics notes here currently split into two vibes:
- Cosmology / galaxy formation: expansion, distances, universe age, halo/stellar-population tools.
- Solar physics / computational astrophysics: magnetic-field extrapolation, NLFFF assumptions, and physics-informed neural methods.
The common thread is modelling observables indirectly: infer physical structure from partial data using a mixture of equations, approximations, and numerical methods.
How to use this map
Use this MOC as the entry point when a note could belong to several astronomy subfields. If it is about expansion/distances, send it to Cosmology MOC. If it is about solar magnetic fields or NF2, send it to NF2 solar extrapolation MOC. If it is about how to structure/cite the dissertation argument, use Literature Review index.
